Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG)
How does Neurofeedback work? To begin the process, an initial assessment is required to obtain a description of symptoms and to gather medical and mental health history. Prior to Neurofeedback, a quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) or Brain Map is done to provide the guidance for setting up a Neurofeedback protocol. The procedure takes about 2 hours and consists of placing a cap which contains small electrodes on the head to measure the electrical patterns coming from the brain. Information is gathered on the brainwave patterns while the client is resting quietly for 8 to 10 minutes with his or her eyes closed and again with his or her eyes opened. The brainwave data gathered is then compared to a database of the brainwaves of persons of the same age and sex who have been screened for normality.
